While I was art director for YOE! Studio in Peekskill, New York, I had the "designer's dream" scenario and privilege of designing for the Austin Powers' franchise second film, "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" from New Line Cinema.
I oversaw layout and contributed to content creation for a style guide for this licensed property. Our contact with New Line was a fun, daily call where we received a few notes and regular approvals directly from series creator, Mike Meyers.
I created the original elements shown on this page in addition to mentoring junior designers as we compiled the pages for this groovy assignment.
Shown below:
These are some example pages from one of several style guides I collaborated on as Craig Yoe's studio art director, working with our project manager and input from the folks at New Line Cinema. Guides were produced with existing art from which we designed type, illustrations, and other graphic treatments. Besides those elements, the only other source we had to work with was a draft of the script. We had to wait like everyone else to see the film at the premiere.
This was late 90's and the internet was still new so what we were producing were approved as PDF pages via email but at least I was able to convince the owners to skip the fax machine and fedex charges.
